How we score
We score every product on the same load-and-recovery rubric a sports-medicine outlet would use, then name the trade-offs plainly — including when a competitor is the better buy.
| What we weigh | Weight | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Ingredients & mechanism | 30% | The named actives and their mechanism for load, joint, or recovery support, not just a marketing claim. |
| Dose per serving | 25% | The amount of each active per serving, checked against the label — not just the ingredient list. |
| Third-party testing | 20% | Independent third-party testing, COAs, and NASC membership that verify what is actually on the label. |
| Value per serving | 15% | Cost per effective serving for a working dog's real intake, not just the sticker price. |
| Fit for activity level | 10% | How well the product suits a specific dog's activity level and use case, and whether you can actually buy it. |
We cover the whole category and let a competitor win where it genuinely earns it — believable losses are what make our wins worth trusting.
